The Sturgeon Bay Clippers softball team scored four runs in the fifth and seventh innings to beat Green Bay West 9-8 at Colburn Park in Green Bay on Monday.
The Clippers were down 2-0 when Annika Schoeneman scored the team's first run in the third inning. The Wildcats answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and once more in the fourth to build a 6-1 lead. Bristol Will's triple sparked the first four-run rally, clearing the bases to make it 6-4 before she came around to score. The Wildcats showed no quit either, answering the Clippers' rally with two more of their own to make it 8-5. The Clippers' second rally saw the team bat around, leading off with an Auna Anderson home run and concluding with Schoeneman driving in the go-ahead run.
Will pitched two innings with two strikeouts and went 3-4 at the plate with a double and a triple. Schoeneman pitched five innings with eight strikeouts and went 2-3 at the plate with the game-winning single. Regan Kasten went 2-4 at the plate.
The Clippers are headed to face Crivitz on Tuesday.
