Clippers baseball splits in Chilton

The Sturgeon Bay baseball team bounced back from a 9-4 loss to Howards Grove with a 8-6 win over Chilton on Saturday.

In game one, the Clippers and Tigers traded one run for two, leaving Sturgeon Bay trailing 4-2. The Tigers would pile on in the middle innings, scoring three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth. The Clippers chipped away in the sixth inning thanks to bases-loaded walks drawn by Jack Higginbotham and Braylon LaRoche. Bryce Plzak, Steven Prescott, and Siggy Hansen tallied the only hits the game for the Clippers, though it was Higginbotham that led the team in RBI with two.

In game two, Chilton jumped out to a 6-2 lead only to watch the Clippers score one run in fifth and five more in the sixth to lose the game. During the Clippers' sixth inning rally, the team took advantage of three Tigers errors and a bases-loaded hit by pitch. Bryce Plzak dealt the biggest blow, following two of the Tigers' errors with a two-run single. Plzak went 3-4 with three RBI in the game. Ryan Ruenger also had a three-hit game while matching Prescott with two RBI. Ruenger earned the win in relief after Plzak pitched the first 5 2/3 innings.
