The Sturgeon Bay Clippers baseball team came up empty in its twinbill against Green Bay Preble on Saturday, losing both ends of its doubleheader 3-1 and 9-1.
In game one, the Clippers scored their lone run when Steven Prescott's bunt single brought home Ethan Kratcha. The lead was short-lived as the Hornets scored in their half of the third inning to make it 1-1. It would stay that way until the sixth inning when the Hornets tallied two runs on an Ian DeBaker single and an error. Kratcha, Caleb Plzak, Prescott, and Siggy Hansen registered the only hits for the Clippers as Kratcha took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs (1 ER) and nine hits while striking out five.
The Clippers' offensive struggles were only matched by their defense as they committed five errors in the game. A four-run fourth inning all but took the Clippers out of the game. The Clippers' lone run came in the top of the seventh inning down 9-0 when Prescott popped out to the right fielder to bring in Kratcha. Plzak and Kratcha collected the lone hits for the Clippers. Bryce Plzak took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs (0 ER) and one hit across three innings while striking out two.
