Clippers soccer, Blazers play to draw

Strong defenses and great goalkeeping kept the match between Sturgeon Bay and NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy scoreless at Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon.

Sturgeon Bay’s defense held the Blazers to six shots on goal, and Clippers keeper Isabella Jimenez Seyfer had six saves to record the shutout. Similarly, the Clippers was also unable to score.

“We have some work to do on the offensive side of our team right now, but we’ve kept our chances even in conference with the tie.”

Playing at the neutral site on another very windy night made controlling the ball difficult and frustrating for both teams.

“Later in the second half, Providence found a rhythm and created some quality chances, but our defense was able to keep shots to a minimum and defend against quality shots on goal.  Isabella did the rest.”

Next up for the Clippers is St. Mary Catholic in Menasha on Tuesday.
