Clippers girls fall to rival Eagles on U-102.1

The Southern Door Eagles got their coach, Alyssa Conway, her first victory by beating the Sturgeon Bay Clippers 42-53 on Thursday night. It was a tight game at halftime, but the Eagles used an offensive burst at the start of the second half to jump out to a lead they would never look back from.

A single point separated the teams at the halftime break, a 19-20 lead for the Eagles.  Southern Door's Ashlynn Delfosse led the way in the first half for both teams with 10.  Dasha Yeltysheva led the charge for the Clippers in the first half with 9. Each of those players would lead their team in scoring by the end of the night as well, Delfosse with 19 and Yeltysheva with 18.

Coming out of halftime, The Eagles used an offensive burst to jump to a 16-point lead.  The Clippers would fight their way back all night, cutting the lead to 6 at one point, but the Eagles offense proved too strong.  Other leading scorers for the Eagles were Kyleigh Clafin with 10 and Alana Kaye with 8.  On the Clippers, Regan Kasten added 15 points, 7 of which came from the free throw line where she made 7 of her 8 attempts.

The Eagles' next game is a home matchup with Algoma on Tuesday, December 17th. The Clippers have a quick turnaround, facing Manitowoc Lutheran on Saturday, December 14th.
