DCU to send several swimmers to state meet

The Door County United girls' high school swim team isn’t done with their season quite yet! They competed in the WIAA Division 2 Sectional swim meet at Ashwaubenon High School on November 9th, 2024.

 

The team as a whole finished 3rd overall to the co-op from Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/Sheboygan Falls and Ashwaubenon High School. DCU had a top 8 finish in every event of the day except for one. Senior Isabella Jimenez-Seyfer finished 8th in the 100-yard butterfly and 17th in the 50-yard freestyle. Senior Anika Steinbach finished 11th in the 100-yard butterfly and 18th in the 200-yard freestyle. Junior Chloe Bissen finished 5th in the 100-yard butterfly and 3rd in the 100-yard backstroke. Sophomore Shaeffer Rass finished 23rd in the 100-yard freestyle and 9th in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Amelia Michalski finished 7th in the 100-yard freestyle and 6th in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Megan Quaderer finished 4th in the 100-yard freestyle and 7th in the 500-yard freestyle. Freshman Quinn Sperber finished 5th in the 100-yard backstroke. DCU punched their ticket to state with a 2nd place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (Julia Michalski, Caitlyn Hasenjager, Isabella Jimenez Seyfer, Megan Quaderer), 5th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Chloe Bissen, Megan Quaderer, Kailyn Neville, Caitlyn Hasenjager), and 4th place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay (Julia Michalski, Chloe Bissen, Kailyn Neville, Caitlyn Hasenjager). Senior Julia Michalski automatically qualified to state with first-place finishes in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke. Senior Caitlyn Hasenjager qualified for state in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing 4th at sectionals. This is the first time she has qualified for high school state as an individual. Finally, junior Kailyn Neville will be our final individual participating in the state, with her 3rd-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.

 

WIAA Division 2 State will be held at Waukesha South High School on Friday, November 15th.
