Clippers soccer face Huskies in WIAA opener on U-102.1

Sturgeon Bay begins its road to Milwaukee on Thursday when it welcomes New Holstein for the WIAA Soccer Tournament Regional Semifinals.

After struggling against non-conference opponents for much of the season as they battled teams from bigger schools, the Clippers humbled the Seymour Thunder by a 4-0 score last Friday. Sophomore Finn Stevenson had a hat-trick (8th, 18th, 31st minute) to lead the Clippers in scoring. The win elevated the Clippers to 13-5-1 on the season, which includes a 10-0 mark in the Packerland Conference.

On Tuesday, the Huskies punched their ticket to the semifinals with a 3-0 win over Gresham/Bowler, snapping a four-match losing streak. The Huskies enter the match 3-14-1, allowing at least five goals a dozen times.

Bryan Mazur and Peter Kerwin will have the call from Clark Field beginning at 6:45 p.m. followed by the first touch at 7:00 p.m.
