The Sturgeon Bay football team hopes the third time is the charm Friday night when they enter Packerland Conference play against Marinette.
The Clippers have dropped their first two games of the season with losses against Waupun on the road and Antigo at home. In last week's 27-20 defeat to the Red Robins, the two teams traded shots in the second half with Antigo making a final stand to take the single-score victory. Caleb Plzak threw for 176 yards and a score while Bryce Plzak racked up nearly 160 yards on 16 touches, including 10 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown.
The Marines have split their first two games of the season, falling hard to their cross-state lines rivalry with Menominee (MI) 49-6 its last time out. They were on the opposite side of a lopsided score in Week 1 as they beat Clintonville 46-6 without completing a single pass. They instead rushed for 498 yards, including 263 yards and four touchdowns from quarterback Chase MacGregor.
