Sturgeon Bay High School

Clippers football open the season at Waupun on U-102.1

There will be plenty of new faces on the sideline for the Sturgeon Bay Clippers when they take on the Waupun Warriors on Friday night.

Wearing the headset for the Clippers as interim head coach is Jon Dupuis. He joined the district as the school's athletic director when Carl Waterstreet stepped down from his role as head coach earlier this summer after leading the Clippers to a 10-10 record and two playoff appearances. Dupuis previously served as the athletic director at Edgerton and Beloit Memorial.

The Clippers also said goodbye to a number of players to graduation, with Mason Sacotte (UW-Stevens Point), Brody Kollath (UW-Oshkosh), and Eli Schuster (Lakeland College) all playing football at the next level. They also lost All-State quarterback Danny Lodl. Returning players include All-Conference selections, such as Bryce and Caleb Plzak, Myles Sacotte, Braylon LaRoche, and Braden Evers. The Clippers went 5-5 last year, ending their season with a 29-12 loss to eventual state runner-up Wrightstown.

The Warriors are coming off a 2-8 season where they won two of their last three games by large margins. On the flip side, they were limited to six points or less six times last season.

Jacob Nate and Tim Kowols have the call on U-102.1 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the kickoff at 7 p.m.
