Clippers soccer docked by Blazers in tournament

A first-half goal by NEW Lutheran proved enough as the Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' soccer team fell to NEW Lutheran 1-0 in the WIAA Tournament on Thursday.

Adie Yunk took advantage of a pass from Kiley Dhein to bury the lone goal for either side to give the Blazers the 1-0 lead in the first half. Goalkeeper Bella Sorbo stopped eight Clippers shots to help the Blazers hold on for the win.

Keeper Isabella Jimenez Seyfer had three saves in goal.  "This was a microcosm of our season," said head coach Robert Desotelle.  "We played well enough to win but struggled in the final third and found ourselves on the short end of the score.  We've had a great year, played in many very close games and I'm sure these players will have fond memories of their season.  Our congratulations to NEW.  They have a good team, and we wish them success in their game against Oshkosh Lourdes on Saturday".
