The Sturgeon Bay Clippers got an unexpected home-field advantage on Tuesday but fell to the Denmark Vikings 11-1 in a WIAA Division 2 Regional semi-final.
The game was scheduled to be played in Denmark but was moved to Sturgeon Bay after a rain-soaked field required a last-minute change of venue to Memorial Field.
Denmark scored three runs in the second and third innings to build a 6-0 lead and added five more in the sixth inning to win going away.
The Clippers managed just two hits off Vikings’ pitcher Brandon Dvorak, who walked two and struck out eight in the complete game win.
Garrett Ulberg singled and knocked in the only run for the Clippers, while Danny Lodl had the other hit.
Brody Kollath took the loss allowing three runs on two hits in 1.1 innings of pitching.
Sturgeon Bay ends the season at 14-14, while Denmark plays Xavier in the regional final on Wednesday.
