Sturgeon Bay baseball splits Saturday games

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers baseball split their two contests on Saturday, losing to Kohler 16-5 before beating Reedsville 9-5.

In game one, the Clippers were down 8-0 before scratching a run across in the third inning. The game ended after five innings as the Bombers scored at least two runs in four of the five frames. Brady Kollath went 2-3 with a RBI to lead the Clippers.

In game two, the Clippers scored seven runs in the final two innings to get past the Panthers. Bryce Plzak, Caleb Plzak, Kollath, Danny Lodl, and Patrick Haese all had two hits the game, combining to drive in four runs. Earning the win in relief was Bryce Plzak, who allowed no runs on two hits in three innings of relief.

"Today was a challenge for us. We are coming off four mentally and physically demanding conference games this week (Southern Door, and Algoma)," said head coach Neal Henrigillis. "It was encouraging to see our guys get up off the mat after taking one of the chin in game one against a good hitting Kohler team and come back and play better in game two against Reedsville."

The Clippers are back in action on Tuesday when they face Gibraltar at 4:30 p.m. The games will be carried live on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 4:15 p.m. with the pregame show.
