Clipper baseball claims doubleheader sweep of Wolves

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers defeated the Algoma Wolves 4-3 and then came back to capture a 5-4 win to sweep a doubleheader on the road.

In game one, eight different Clippers had a hit in the game and Bryce Plazak pitched the last three innings to pick up the win.   Carson Leist, Grant Vandervest, and Parker Lischka had two hits apiece for the Wolves.

Game two was highlighted by a four-run rally by the Clippers in the bottom of the seventh inning. The rally was sparked by pinch hitter Rex Brusky, who got a hit, followed by a Trey VanderLeest walk and another Patrick Haese single to load the bases. Bryce Plzak then tied the game with a double after a pitching visit, which was followed by his brother, Caleb Plzak, winning the game with a base hit.

"Tonight was great baseball by both teams. Algoma has a phenomenal team, and their pitchers did a great job. This was a fantastic night of Packerland Conference baseball, fortunately we came out on top with some gritty at-bats by guys like Rex Brusky and Patrick Haese and of course phenomenal pitching to keep up in it the entire game." - Coach Neal Henrigillis

Sturgeon Bay is now 7-2 and 5-1 in Packerland play.  The Wolves are 5-5 and 5-3 in conference.
