Clippers boys shoot past Vikings on 105.1 The GOAT

Four different Sturgeon Bay Clippers broke double figures and two others were within a basket as they rolled past Gibraltar Friday night 87-68 in Fish Creek.

Both teams struggled to find a rhythm as the Vikings could not connect on passes, and the Clippers were not hitting their shots. The Clippers built an 11-4 lead early before the Vikings went on a 7-0 run to tie the game and would later take the lead on a couple of made shots by Braden Sitte, who would score 20 points in the frame en route to a 40-point evening to lead all scorers.

The Clippers would find their stroke later in the half and take control as Garrett Ulberg and Jackson Starr each connected on a pair of three-pointers while still causing havoc in the passing lanes against the Vikings. Thanks to Ulberg's 13 first-half points, the Clippers took a 40-29 lead into the break.

The Clippers would continue the offensive onslaught as they weathered Sitte's drives to the basket. Ulberg and Calvin Richard scored in double figures in the second half, while Hayden Tracy knocked down a pair of threes to extend the lead by nearly 30 points midway through the second half.

Ulberg would finish the night with 23 points, Richard pouring in 18 points, Starr contributing 11 points, and Tracy chipping in 10 points. The Vikings got the deficit to below 20 points thanks to Jeffrey Mize scoring seven of his nine points late in the period and Liam Lindenberg hitting two more three-pointers to end his night with 10 points.

The Clippers will try to extend its winning streak to three when they return home to play Kewaunee at 7:30 p.m.

The Vikings will make a road trip to Algoma to play the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork beginning at 7:15 p.m. and the opening tip at 7:30 p.m.

Both teams will wait patiently for Sunday when the WIAA will announce the brackets for the boys' basketball tournament.
