Clippers Defend Home Court 78-43 on U102.1

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers made quick work of the visiting Sevastopol Pioneers on Friday night, securing the home victory 78-43. Nearly half of the second half was played under a running clock. The gymnasium was packed as the Clippers were holding youth night as well, and treated the fans to a dribbling show by dozens of Clipper youth.

The only lead the Pioneers held all night was on the second possession when Lucas Delsart hit his first 3-pointer, giving them the 3-2 lead.  He would lead the way in scoring for the Pioneers, finishing the night with 14 points.  Other leading scorers for Sevastopol were Daniel Castillo with 8 points and Norman Luedtke with 7.

The Clippers kept up the speed all night and pushed the ball down the court quickly, allowing them to have five players with double-digit scoring totals.  Jackson Starr would lead the way with 15, and Calvin Richard would contribute 14.  Plenty of bench players got significant playing time, including Hayden Tracy who added 13 points and the third-highest scoring total for the Clippers.

Both teams have quick turnarounds as the Clippers travel to Brussels to take on the Packerland Conference-leading Eagles on Monday.  The Pioneers will host the Northeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschoolers Athletic Association on Monday as well.
