DCU captures event wins in home meet

There were lots of positives in and out of the pool on Thursday, and the boys' efforts this season are definitely paying off.

Here are the highlights in the pool, and there are lots!

  • The 200 Medley Relay (Ezra Linnan, Jack Monfils, George Atwell, Logan Filar) won with a season-best of 1:49.27. Linnan put in his best 50-back split on record with a 27.74 to get the relay started off strong.
  • Atwell took 4th in the 200 Free, swimming a 2:12.89, continuing his steady drop in the event these past two months.
    Luke Filar took 4th in the 200 IM swimming a 2:26.88.
  • Logan Filar captured the victory in the 50 Free with a 24.28 to match his best of the season.
    Linnan came in flying, quite literally, to 2nd in the 100 Fly with a personal best of 1:02.39. That’s a three second time drop from his previous best.
  • Luke Filar took 3rd in the 100 Free, swimming his personal best of 56.82. 
  • Monfils took 2nd in the 500 Free with a time of 5:20.73. His previous high school 500 time was a 5:34.15, which is a drop of 14 seconds.
  • Our 200 Free Relay (Linnan, Luke Filar, Atwell, Monfils) claimed 1st with a time of 1:39.86. Linnan had his fastest 50 Free time ever with a 24.96 to start us off. 
  • Linnan went on to take 2nd in the 100 Back, swimming a 1:02.51 and dropping 2 seconds from his previous best two weeks ago.
  • Logan Filar placed 2nd in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:09.00, swimming his high school best for the second week in a row and dropping an additional second.
  • The 400 Free Relay (Luke Filar, Atwell, Logan Filar, Monfils) took 2nd with a season best of 3:42.75. Atwell swam his season-best 100 Free split at a 57.51, just one-tenth off his fastest split ever.

1. Kiel- 136
2. Two Rivers- 82
3. DCU- 74

Their next meet is Saturday at Shorewood High School outside of Milwaukee.
