Clippers boys sink short-handed Vikings

The Sturgeon Bay boys' basketball team showed no mercy in its 59-39 victory over Gibraltar in a Thursday night Packerland Conference showdown.

The Clippers used their experience to take advantage of a Vikings team without Braden Sitte and Marshall Maltby for the evening, and no player did that more than Calvin Richard. After being held to just three points, Richard scored 16 of his game-high 19 points after the break to pace the Clippers as they outscored the Vikings 34-18 in the second half. Danny Lodl helped the Clippers take a first-half lead, with all nine of his points coming in the first half. Jackson Starr contributed 10 points in the win.

Gibraltar coach Travis Ward was proud of his team stepping up without their senior leaders and two of their top three scorers. Kayin Jackson had a breakout game with 18 points, while Liam Lindenberg knocked down a trio of triples en route to an 11-point game.
