Sturgeon Bay girls welcome Oconto for Packerland opener

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball team will look to the Packerland Conference for their first win of the season when they battle Oconto on Tuesday night at 7:30.

The Clippers opened their campaign with a tough loss on the road Thursday night, falling to the Chilton Tigers 80-41. The Clippers had two players reach double figures, with Dasha Yeltysheva and Regan Kasten scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Blue Devils have split their first two games, beating Menominee Indian 49-42 before losing to state participant Wabeno-Laona 53-36. Addisyn Viestenz continues to be the Blue Devils' go-to player as she leads the squad in scoring (12.0 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg), and assists (2.5 apg). Natalie Schlueter and Gracie Simon have been her partners in crime as they are either second or third to Viestenz in all statistical categories.
