Clippers defend home turf on U102.1

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers continue the Homecoming week celebrations as they come away victorious 20-6 victory over the visiting Oconto Blue Devils on U102.1.  Each quarter of the game saw a single score, thanks in part to the Clipper's defense turning the Blue Devils away just inches short of the endzone in the second quarter after a first and goal from inside the 5-yard line.

Each of the three scores for the Clippers came through the air. After a leaping 3rd down catch by Patrick Haese extended the drive, Danny Lodl would find Kordel Anderson in the first quarter from 24 yards out to open up the scoring.  Eli Schuster would add the extra point giving the Clippers the 7-0 lead.  In the second quarter, Lodl would find Bryce Plzak for a 45-yard touchdown. The extra point was blocked leading to a 13-0 halftime score.

Oconto would shift players around in the second half, moving Cooper Campshure to receiver instead of Quarterback, and moving Kyle Bowman up into the QB, from running back.  The opening drive of the half saw success when Oconto's Dominic Taylor would score on an 11-yard carry, cutting the lead to 13-6.  Oconto would recover an onside kick catching the Clippers off guard, but the Clippers' defense would prevent any more Oconto scores.

Bryce Plzak would add a second touchdown to cap the scoring with a 75-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter which would send the Clippers happily into what is left of their Homecoming festivities with a 20-13 victory, and a 3-1 conference, 4-2 overall record.

The Clippers will be on the road the rest of their regular season, starting with a trip to Kewaunee on September 29th in a game that will be broadcast on 104.1 WRLU.
