Clippers soccer trounces Wolves on U-102.1

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers looked strong from the opening tap and never took their foot off the gas until the final whistle in an 8-0 win over the Algoma Wolves Thursday night. The scoring started early for the Clippers with Kayden Klotz finding the back of the net in the second minute of play off a cross from Olson (1-0). Then Klotz scored again in the 15th minute (2-0). FInn Stephenson, assisted by Will Estes, made the score 3-0 in the 18th minute and Klotz notched the hat trick in the 32nd minute. The score was 4-0 at the half. The Clippers started the second half fast, as they did in the first half, with a goal two minutes into play (5-0). That was Klotz's 4th on the night. In the 49th minute, Ethan DeNamur made the score 6-0, Finn Stephenson added his second, and the senior, who was returning to the line-up for the first time this season and was helping control the midfield, Aldo Rangel ended the game 8 minutes early with his first goal of the season. The Wolves Defense played strong as they were tested all night, led by Zeitler and Kirchman.

The Clippers are back in action this weekend when they take on The Prairie School and Kenosha Tremper in The Prairie School Quad. They open up the series of fixtures on Friday with a 7 p.m. first kick against The Prairie School. A consistent rival of the Clippers in the state tournament, The Prairies School opened their season on August 28th with a 2-0 win against Burlington.

The next broadcast of Clippers soccer will be Tuesday when Sturgeon Bay travels to De Pere. Game time is 6:30 p.m. and the broadcast will start at 6:15 p.m. on U-102.1.
