Clippers softball falls to Valders in tourney opener

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers saw their chances of keeping their season alive slip away in the latter stages of its 11-1, five-inning loss to Valders on Thursday in the WIAA Softball Tournament.

The Vikings scored in every inning, including seven runs over the final two innings to earn the shortened game victory. The Clippers scored their lone run in the third inning when Regan Kasten followed up an Annika Schoeneman with RBI groundout. Tori Alger's second-inning single and Julia Gregory's third-inning single were the only other hits the Clippers were able to collect on the day.

The Vikings were led by Hunter Romauld, who scored three runs and had three hits. Five other players had multi-hit games.
