Clippers softball split with NEW Lutheran, host Algoma Tuesday

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers host Algoma in a single softball matchup on Tuesday after their Monday split with NEW Lutheran.

The Clippers lost NEW Lutheran in game one 10-6 but captured game two 22-12. A pair of four-run innings sank the Clippers in game one, including one frame that came after Sturgeon Bay put up three runs of their own. MacKenzie Burlo led the way offensively for the Clippers, scoring three runs and registering a double and a single. Madeline Propsom, Lilly Cihlar, and Jacqueline Barlas also scored runs in the loss. The Clippers batted around twice in the night cap, only needing five innings to douse the Blazers. It was their patience that helped the most as they drew 16 walks in the victory.

The Algoma Wolves took two games from their southern rivals on Monday, nipping Kewaunee 5-4 before beating them 17-3 in game two. The Wolves would chip away the rest of the game until Jadyn Nells delivered the walk-off single in the seventh to take the game. Ryley Zimmerman, Robinson, and Nellis had one RBI each while Zimmerman, Sierra Slaby, Nora Krause, Hannah Nell, Teagen Luedke, Nellis and Robinson all had hits. Macie Zimmerman went the limit for the Wolves as she struck out 16 Storm players while allowing four runs on four hits. Macie Zimmerman, Nellis, Robinson, and Kennedy Neuzil all had two RBI in the game while every player that got into the game for the Wolves got at least one of the team's 12 hits.

First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
