Clippers softball sinks Vikings in five innings on 105.1 The GOAT, battle Bulldogs Tuesday

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers softball team used patience to build up their lead and take their Packerland Conference matchup against Gibraltar 10-0 in five innings.

After a scoreless first inning, Clippers scored their first runs of the game when Coral Frangipane knocked in two runs following a Vikings' error. The Clippers added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning when Madeline Propsom and Caprice Carbajal each had RBI singles.

The Vikings' miscues would pile up in the latter stages of the game as the Clippers scored their final six runs on just two hits. They instead took advantage of two errors and four walks to set up the victory. Propsom, Lilly Cihlar, and Carbajal all had RBI in the fifth inning to put the game away for the Clippers for their first Packerland win. Annika Schoeneman went the distance for the Clippers, allowing just one single to Gibraltar's Pam Prescott while striking out seven.

Emile Glocke took the loss for the Vikings, allowing seven runs on seven hits across four innings of work. She struck out three Clippers but walked five on the afternoon.

The Clippers will head to Peshtigo for a pair of games on Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Bulldogs sit on top of the Packerland standings with a 10-0 record. Their pitching has been stingy, allowing just 28 runs on the season compared to scoring over 100 runs to help their cause. Bulldogs pitching has allowed three runs or less in 10 of their 14 games (14-0) this season.
