Sturgeon Bay baseball takes twin bill from Sevastopol

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers came away with a doubleheader sweep of the Sevastopol Pioneers on Tuesday with wins of 18-8 and 12-2.

In the opener, Sturgeon Bay used a nine-run first inning to take a 9-1 lead, but Sevastopol battled back with six runs in the second to make it 9-7.  The Clippers then scored nine of the next 10 runs to come away with the five-inning 18-2 win.  Emmett Braschnewitz had a huge game with two doubles and four RBIs while Curt Meyer had two hits and three runs batted in to lead the Clippers.

In the nightcap, the Clippers scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to put the game away.  The five-inning game saw Cole Frangipane collect three hits and two RBIs in the win.  Trey Vanderleest pitched the final 4.2 innings and only allowed two hits to pick up the win.
