Sturgeon Bay girls soccer dominates Clintonville

Sturgeon Bay’s offensive explosion led to a 9-1 win at Clark Field on Tuesday night over the Clintonville Truckers.  Five different players scored for the Clipper girls led by Junior Alexis Olson (4 goals, 3 assists), Freshman Yarrow Goettelmann (two goals), Senior Scarlet Serafico (1 goal, 2 assists), Senior Emma Reinhardt (1 goal), and Sophomore Hayden Luders (1 goal). Keeper Isabella Jimenez-Seyfer had 2 saves in goal.  Clintonville’s lone goal was scored by Gracie Steede unassisted.  The game was stopped in the 76th minute by the mercy rule.  The Clippers have a record of 2-1 on the season and face Seymour Thursday night. Sturgeon Bay coach Bob Desotelle said “We focused on quality passes and communicating on the field all week during practice and our players improved in both areas tonight.  Our subs also played quality minutes again this game, which is huge.   Next, we prepare for Seymour… a bigger school and a bigger challenge”.
