Clippers softball looks to douse Blazers for two

The Sturgeon Bay softball team looks to rebound from a rough weekend showing against Oconto when they welcome NEW Lutheran on Monday.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers' trip to Oconto for a pair of softball games did not fare well as they dropped both ends of the doubleheader 18-7 and 9-3. In game one, the Clippers carried a lead late before the Blue Devils scored 15 of their 18 runs in the final two innings. The Clippers tried answering the call in the sixth inning when they plated five runs of their own. In game two, the Clippers scored all three of their runs in the third inning to bring the game within one before the Blue Devils scored twice in the fourth and five times in the decisive seventh inning.

Since beating Gibraltar 17-3 in their season opener, the Blazers have dropped three straight including a doubleheader sweep against Peshtigo over the weekend at home 26-0 and 17-4.

Weather permitting, the first pitch will take place at 4:30 p.m.
