Sturgeon Bay Baseball sees Preble on opening night

After a long offseason, the Sturgeon Bay Clippers will finally hit the diamond at Memorial Field as they take on non-conference opponent Green Bay Preble.

The Clippers will see a new skipper lead the team this season, as former Peshtigo Head Coach Neal Henrigillis becomes the man in charge of leading Sturgeon Bay this season. Henrigillis will inherit a strong team led by the likes of Emmett Braschnewitz and Curt Meyer, along with some potential up and coming younger players. The team finished fourth in the Packerland last season, a half game behind the Storm of Kewaunee. Sturgeon Bay will look to make a farther trip into the postseason, after they were defeated by Luxemburg-Casco in the opening round.

Green Bay Preble was 16-8 overall last season from division one, and was 13-5 in the Fox River Classic Conference. The Hornets had three seniors on the FRCC All-Conference team, and will have to replace their production. As the sixth seed in the postseason last year, Preble was upset by Kaukauna 10-8 in the first round.

First pitch from Memorial Field is set for 7:00 p.m.
