Clippers girls can't manage Vikings' big three; fall on 103.3 The Clipper

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers were not able to keep pace with the Gibraltar Vikings Monday night, falling 61-35 on 103.3 The Clipper.

The defense of the Vikings was the main focal point of the first half for Coach Devin Thomas, as Gibraltar used their length to clog up passing lanes and getting easy baskets at the other end. With that success, the Vikings jumped out to a 15-8 lead thanks to Andie Schar within the first five minutes of the game.

It would be more of the same the rest of the first half, with Dasha Yeltysheva trying to match the offensive output of Gibraltar. The success was not there with that plan, as the Vikings led 34-19 at the break thanks to Colleen Carlisle.

The second half would entail a big three of Gibraltar letting loose, as Mikala Gorham, Colleen Carlisle and Andie Schar would do most of the damage from directly underneath the basket and at the free throw line, as the lead would grow to as much as 30 at one point.

With a few minutes remaining, Autumn Rass began to emerge for the Clippers, but it was too little too late as Sturgeon Bay fell to 0-15 in the Packerland conference.

Coach Devin Thomas named senior Colleen Carlisle the player of the game in the win for senior night, as Carlisle scored a career high 13 points.
