Owens debuts as coach in season opener against Chilton

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers will open their season on the road, as they travel to Chilton to take on the Tigers Tuesday night.

The Clippers finished their season 6-18 last year and went 5-11 in conference play in the Packerland. Sturgeon Bay will have a new coach, as Rodney Owens will take over the position from the late Jim Benesh. Sturgeon Bay will return their leading scorer Isaak Aune, as Aune will look to shoot his way to leading the Clippers to some wins. Sturgeon Bay took a narrow loss to the Tigers of Chilton last season, losing 55-49.

Chilton was around the .500 mark last season, as they finished their season 13-12 overall, and 6-8 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference. The Tigers season ended in the opening round of the WIAA playoffs, as they were beaten by Oostburg 65-50. Chilton does return their leading scorer from last season, as Max Mueller, who averaged 13.8 Points Per Game last season will return.
