Sturgeon Bay High School

Clippers host Chilton in Girls Basketball season opener

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers will finally be able to get their Girls Basketball season underway, as they take on the Chilton Tigers.

Sturgeon Bay and Southern Door were the only two teams that had not gotten their seasons underway, but both teams will play their first games Friday night. The Clippers, coming off of a 2-22 season last year will look to change the tides and results from last season. That ultimately could start with new head coach Casey Harrington, who takes over the team as the head coach this season. Emma Reinhardt, Tori Alger, and Autumn Rass could be big time players for Sturgeon Bay with the departure of Sierra Arneman to graduation. A 1-0 start for the Clippers would swing some momentum their way.

Chilton already has a game under their belt this season, as they took down the Kohler Blue Bombers 72-60 Tuesday night. Going back to the 2021-2022 season, the Tigers were 14-12 and were eliminated in the second round by Kiel 58-41. Chilton leans on their strong 2025 class, as three of their top four scorers from last season were from that class, including Adahlyn Hoerl who averaged 12.3 points per game. These two teams matched up last season, and Chilton was able to win that one by a score of 71-43.

The game is scheduled to tip at 7:00.
