Sturgeon Bay soccer blows past NEW Lutheran on The Clipper

Thursday's 3-0 win over the NEW Lutheran Blazers was well worth the wait for the Sturgeon Bay Clippers soccer team.

The match was delayed for about 30 minutes due to a missing side judge, forcing the teams to warm up multiple times before action officially got underway. The Clippers took advantage of misplays by the Blazers' defenders,  with Robert Alas, Ben Hooker, and Gavin Fernandez all finding the back of the net in the match's first 20 minutes.

The wind acted as a 12th man for both teams after that, pushing balls further and faster as they traveled north and hanging others up in the air and knuckling when they traveled south.

The backline for the Clippers, Carter Schulz, Johnny Hubbard,  earned players of the game honors for this one, limiting the chances for Emmett Braschnewitz. The Blazers' best chance came on a second-half corner kick by the Blazers' Thibaut Delattre nearly curled in, but was creatively deflected off Schulz's hip.

Braschnewitz and the Blazers' Jack Henschel both made at least five saves in the match.
