Sturgeon Bay routs Green Bay West on 103.3 The Clipper

Sturgeon Bay bursted onto the scene back in 11-Player football week one, making a statement by blowing out the Wildcats of Green Bay West 41-7.

The Clippers took an early lead as Danny Lodl aired out a deep pass that connected with Wide Receiver Bryce Plzak on a 73 Yard touchdown that left two Wildcat defenders in the dust. It was not just all offense for the Clippers in the 1st half, as Caleb Plzak picked off Quarterback Ronald Schmocker, and David Zuehlke forced and recovered a fumble all in the first quarter.

Lodl would again air it out and find Patrick Haese for a 40 yard connection getting the Clippers down to the 7 yard line of the Wildcats. David Zuehlke would do the rest of the work from there, as he ran in one of his two first half touchdowns to make the game 21-0. Tagging on another rushing touchdown, this time by Mason Sacotte, the Clippers raced out to a 41-0 lead at halftime and never looked back.

The Wildcats showed fight in the second half, as backup quarterback Ricky Bell came in to replace an injured Ronald Schmocker. Bell ended up leading the Wildcats on a scoring drive towards the end of the third quarter, as he was able to find his receiver Ty Philips for a 40 yard touchdown. The Clippers would end up dominating the clock the entire second half, as a running clock was assessed coming out of the half.

The Player of the Game was David Zuehlke, with two rushing touchdowns and multiple tackles on defense.

The Clippers are back in action next Friday as they take on the Red Robins of Antigo. Antigo is 0-1 after a big loss to Wittenberg-Birnamwood. The game will be carried live on 103.3 The Clipper and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
