Sturgeon Bay High School

Clippers fall sports all officially begin

Every single one of the Sturgeon Bay Clippers teams are officially underway with their fall seasons, with some teams already having some competitions played.

The girls golf team got underway last week as they competed in the first fall competition in this school year. Sturgeon Bay joined Bonduel, Luxemburg-Casco, NEW Lutheran, Oconto and Oconto Falls at River Island Golf Course.

The combined swim team will hit the pool on the 20th of August in a Pentathlon at Marinette High School. Sturgeon Bay Co-op returns their lone state qualifier from last season in Christy Braun, and look to continue their success into this next season.

The Cross Country team began to gear up their season Monday in their first official practice. The first meet will be the Chief K Invitational held up in Gibraltar on August 25th.

The ever popular Boys Soccer team was back kicking things off on Monday as well as they look to make a state trip this year. The Clippers suffered a devastating loss on the doorstep of the state tournament last year as they lost to Sheboygan Christian/Sheboygan Lutheran 3-1 in the sectional finals. They will be facing off with Pulaski on August 23rd in their first official competition.

Also on Monday, the Girls Volleyball team was able to have their first practice, with a triangular at Reedsville High School with Freedom and Reedsville. Sturgeon Bay will be looking to build off of their 4th place finish in the conference last year, and perform better than their first round loss to Freedom last season.
