Clippers football falls to Oakfield on 103.3 The Clipper

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers football team could not get enough stops in its 64-52 loss to Oakfield at Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon on Thursday night.

Both quarterbacks put on a show as Sturgeon Bay's Anthony Jennerjohn and Oakfield's Grant Bass had a hand in approximately a dozen scores in the contest.  Jennerjohn opened the game with a rushing touchdown after the Clippers forced a turnover, only to have Bass scored from 50 yards out on the ground. Jennerjohn returned fire with a 55-yard strike to Drew Price before the Oaks scored on consecutive drives. Jennerjohn and Basses traded scores the rest of the half with Schmelzer scoring on the most exciting one of the bunch, a 50-yard strike where he had to track the ball down as the lights started to take effect.

The two teams would trade scores in the third quarter with Schmelzer scoring three times in the process. Bass would finish the game with two straight touchdowns to put the game away late for the Oaks.

The Clippers drop to 1-1 on the season and will face NEW Lutheran next week. The game will air on 103.3 The Clipper with Brady Tooley and Reece Robillard on the call.
