Sturgeon Bay High School

DKHS.com's Champion of Champions Series: 2015 Sturgeon Bay soccer

Fifth time was the charm for the Sturgeon Bay soccer team when they finally captured the Gold Ball in 2015.

The Clippers captured their first-ever state title in the sport with a 2-0 win over University School of Milwaukee in front of several dozen supporters at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. It had not even scored a goal at the state tournament before they won their state semi-final a few days before against Barron. Robbie Hohlfelder got the Clippers on the board first on a one-timer after a crossing pass in the match's first 25 minutes. Alessandro Nora added an insurance goal on a header in the 56th minute to put the team away. Trent Maas tied a state record for fewest goals in the state tournament with zero goals against. That is not a big shock for a team that outscored its opponents 28-1 during their 2015 playoff run.
