Sturgeon Bay High School

Clippers' skiing past lost to history

Without an old yearbook, the stories of the WIAA's skiing history involving Sturgeon Bay is lost to the ages.

Skiing was added to the WIAA in the 1950s, but has since gone the way of curling, boys gymnastics, and summer baseball. Skiing in particular only lasted until 1975 with only eight different schools winning state titles since the sport was officially recognized in 1958. Wausau won the first four championships, but it was Sturgeon Bay winning titles in 1968 and 1971.
