Sturgeon Bay soccer bounces back on 103.3 The Clipper

After being shutout on Monday against Gibraltar/Sevastopol, the Sturgeon Bay boys soccer team wasted no time getting on the board against Algoma on 103.3 The Clipper. Christian Fairchild scored in the 2nd minute and Sturgeon Bay would add three more goals and to beat the Wolves 4-0.

The game was played in Ashwaubenon at the home of the Green Bay Booyah because Sturgeon Bay's Clark Field was too wet to play. This was the second matchup between these two teams played on a neutral field. The first was played at Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay because Algoma's home field was too wet.

Robert Alas scored in the 38th minute for Sturgeon Bay and the Clippers had a 2-0 lead at the half. Owen Stevenson added a goal two minutes into the second half and Arthur Kelsey would finish off the scoring late in the game.

Despite allowing four goals, Algoma goalkeeper Haakon Utesch was stellar making save after save including a highlight-reel diving save to stop a Carson Dvorak shot.

Sturgeon Bay will next take the pitch Friday night when they travel to Pulaski for a 6 PM kickoff. The next broadcast of Sturgeon Bay soccer will be next Thursday in the playoff opener. They will take on the winner of Howards Grove and Kewaunee which will be played on Tuesday. The pregame show will begin at 6:30 and kickoff at 7 PM on 103.3 The Clipper and DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com.
