Sturgeon Bay knocks off Notre Dame on 103.3 The Clipper

The Sturgeon Bay soccer team wanted a chance to show what it could do against better competition and did just that with a victory over Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon. Two early goals was all Sturgeon Bay needed and held on for a 2-0 win on the road. The game was broadcasted on 103.3 The Clipper and DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com. 

 

Carson Dvorak scored a goal in the 4th minute and Robert Alas added one in the 10th. The Clipper defense, led by senior Adison Benzinger, was stellar in preserving the shutout.

 

Notre Dame came in to the game at 12-6-1 overall playing against better competition as the Tritons are a Division 3 team. They were able to recover after a rough start and played even the last 80 minutes.

 

Weather was a factor as the temperature for the game was about 40 degrees and wind gusts got up to 35 MPH.

 

Sturgeon Bay will next be in action back in Packerland Conference play on Monday. The Clippers will travel up to Fish Creek to take on the Gibraltar/Sevastopol Vikineers.
