Sturgeon Bay falls in eight-man football debut

It was not the start to the eight-man era that Head Coach Jim Adams and his team hoped for when Sturgeon Bay traveled to Oakfield Friday night. The Oaks scored in almost every way possible; through the air, on the ground, returning a kickoff, a fumble recovery, and an interception return. This allowed Oakfield to put points on the board in bunches. The final was 77-24. Sturgeon Bay struggled on offense until Storm Adams was replaced at quarterback by Anthony Jennerjohn. Ball security tightened up and Jennerjohn hit Jack Schmelzer for two scores. The first in the second quarter on a post pattern for 46 yards. The second was a crossing route towards the right sideline from 28 yards out in the fourth quarter. The last score of the game was a 29-yard interception return by Curtis Barganz. Barganz stepped in front of a screen pass in the left flat. Sturgeon Bay was able to convert for two after all three touchdowns.
