Clippers baseball drops sectional final to Ozaukee

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers gave up 10 runs before they could score one en route to a 13-2 loss to Ozaukee in the WIAA Division 3 Sectional Final Tuesday in Random Lake.

Trent Ehlers had a rare off night on the mound, giving up six runs on six hits in just 2 1/3 innings of work. Issac Berkley also struggled on the mound, giving up four runs over 1 1/3 innings in relief. Four errors on the night led to four of the 13 runs to be unearned.

The Clippers offense would show life when Chris Lodl scored on a balk in the fourth and Ehlers singled home a run in the fifth. Those two runs were not enough to stop the umpires from calling the game after five innings due to the mercy rule.

The loss capped an otherwise successful season for the Clippers, which won the Packerland Conference and its regional championship en route the sectional title game.
