Clippers Blank Wolves In Regional Opener

In an opening-round tournament game, Sturgeon Bay shut out Algoma 9-0 behind a Jake Schneider 5-hitter. Jake's steady performance saw him whiff 13, while only issuing 2 free passes. The Clippers opened the scoring with a 4-run 3rd inning, with the only hit being a Ryan Jacobson single. A walk, hit batter, and 3 Algoma errors aided the rally. The lead went to 7-0 in the 5th inning with hits from Jacobson, Isaac Berkley and Mitchell Jackson doing the most damage. The final 2 runs were scored in the 6th inning on sacrifice flies from Trent Ehlers and Max Bordeau. The Clippers were led by Ryan Jacobson's 2-4, while Trevor Nell led the Wolves with 2-3. Algoma starting pitcher Zach Schmidt took the loss in 5 innings of work, with 6th inning relief from Mitch Zimmer. Sturgeon Bay goes to (18-7) on the year, and will now host Mishicot in a Regional Semi-Final at 4:30pm on Tuesday, May 28th.
