The Sturgeon Bay Clippers were written off by most people about two weeks ago in their quest for a 3rd straight Packerland Conference Baseball Championship. However, with a number of never-say-die performances, the Clippers finished league play with a solid (13-3) record after their thrilling 4-3 nine-inning victory over Peshtigo last Friday. Peshtigo still held the inside track to an outright championship with a (13-2) record, needing a victory at Southern Door Monday to clinch the outright title. But, our neighbors to the south took care of business on Monday by dumping the Bulldogs 5-1 behind a Derik LeCaptain no-hitter. For the second consecutive year, Sturgeon Bay and Peshtigo will share the Packerland Conference baseball title. Seeing that all Clippers/Bulldogs games in the last two years have been decided by one run, it seems appropriate that an exciting 2019 baseball season has resulted in another co-championship for these Packerland baseball powers. Sturgeon Bay now travels to Bonduel for a 4:30pm Tuesday non-conference game, before hosting Algoma at 4:30pm on Thursday in the opening round of the Regional Tournament. See you at the ball park.
