In an exciting game with numerous lead changes, Sturgeon Bay edged Oshkosh Lourdes in a Monday game at Memorial Field.
The Clippers led 4-1 after 3 innings, but a 4-run 4th for Lourdes fueled by a 3-run Joshua Bauer HR gave the Knights a 5-4 lead. Sturgeon Bay regained the lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th, only to see Lourdes plate 3 in the 5th for an 8-6 advantage. A 4-run 6th inning highlighted by a 2-run HR off the bat of Trent Ehlers to tie the contest, and a 2-run RBI single by Isaac Berkley for the lead gave the Clippers enough of a margin for a 10-9 victory when the Knights could only score once in the 7th.
Sturgeon Bay was led by Ryan Jacobson's 3-4 night, with Trent Ehlers and Jake Schneider each contributing 2 hits. Max Bordeau blasted a solo HR in the 3rd inning, his 3rd HR in the last 2 games. The victory puts Sturgeon Bay at (15-6) for the year and (11-3) in the Packerland. Freshman, Jace Johnson earned his 1st varsity pitching victory, with Isaac Berkley earning the 7th inning save.
The Clippers now host Gibraltar on Tuesday at 5:00pm.
