Sturgeon Bay Takes Two from Sevastopol in Varsity Baseball Action

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers scored two runs in the seventh inning to force extra innings and one in the eighth to defeat Sevastopol by the score of 4-3 in the first game of a double header. Sturgeon Bay was only able to muster five hits against Sevastopol due to the strong performance by Pioneer starting pitcher Robby Pollman. Trent Ehlers and Hunter Moore provided clutch hits for the Clippers. Ehlers delivered a two RBI single in the 7th inning to tie the score and Moore drove in Isaac Berkley with a two out RBI single in the 8th to give the Clippers the lead. Winning pitcher Isaac Berkley retired all four batters he faced and had to escape a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to gain the victory. The Clippers pounded out 13 hits in coasting to a 14-4 victory in the nightcap. Reece Nellis led the way for the Clippers with three hits and four RBI. Nellis’ efforts were supported by Ryan Jacobson, Jake Schneider and Isaac Berkley who all had multiple hits. Trent Ehlers was the winning pitcher with his complete game effort.
