Pioneers run over by Eagles in season finale on U-102.1

The Sevastopol defense had no answer for the three-headed rushing attack of Kroix Kempka, Grant Thomson, and Dyllan Flynn as Suring ended the Pioneers' season Friday night 42-22 on U-102.1.

The two teams traded empty possessions to start the game before Thomson scored the game's first points on a six-yard touchdown run to make it 6-0. On the next possession, the Pioneers' Ray Johnson provided an answer to begin the second quarter on a high note when he scored from three yards out to make it 8-6.

Kempka gave the lead right back to the Eagles on a three-yard rush, helping Suring take a 12-8 lead into the locker room.

The Eagles ran away with the game in the second half, scoring on all four possessions. The spark that lit the fuse was an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown by Flynn on a Bo Tanck pass that not only put points on the board for the Eagles, but prematurely ended one of the Pioneers' better drives of the evening. Thomson would later make it 24-8 before Johnson found the end zone on a long touchdown pass from Tanck to make it 24-14 entering the final frame.

Thomson would score once, and Kempka found the end zone two more times to make it 42-14 before Tanck found the end zone one final time in the closing minutes to give the Pioneers one final touchdown before the season came to a close.

The Pioneers ended the season 7-2 and a second-place finish in the Packerland-8. They will lose Trey Albertson, Ray Johnson, Zach Genske, Easton Henry, Jaxon Rankin, Anthony Estevez, Harry Schartner, and Porter Micoliczyk to graduation.
