The Sevastopol softball team earned a Tuesday date at Algoma in the WIAA Tournament after beating Montello 8-4 on Thursday. 

Despite a Brynn Schartner home run, the Hilltoppers led the game 4-1 before the Pioneers rattled off three runs in the fifth inning and four in the sixth inning. The Pioneers outhit the Hilltoppers 13-9, including seven in the fifth inning that tied the game at four. All nine Pioneers players recorded at least one hit, including three from Olivia Valenzuela and two apiece from Taylor Kochanski and Savanna Kiehnau.

Leah Schopf went the distance in the circle for the Pioneers, allowing four runs (4 ER) and nine hits while striking out three. 

The Pioneers will play at Algoma in the regional semifinal for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
