Sevastopol had no trouble on a nice Saturday at PBI Field, rolling past Sturgeon Bay twice in softball by scores of 18-0 and 16-1.
The Pioneers wasted no time in game one, putting up seven in the third and nine more in the fourth to blow it open. Olivia Valenzuela went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and stole two bases, Taylor Kochanski added three hits, and Adi Sawyer tripled home three during the fourth-inning surge. Sevastopol finished with 15 hits and seven stolen bases. Audrey Harrington had one of Sturgeon Bay's four hits on the day.
Game two was more of the same. Sevastopol sent the lineup around in a 10-run third inning, highlighted by a Brynn Schartner grand slam to center. Schartner finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Kochanski added two more hits. The Pioneers drew 13 walks and tallied 11 hits. Audrey Harrington drove in Sturgeon Bay's only run and Genevieve Austad went 2-for-2 to lead the Clippers in hits.
