A competitive first half gave way to a defensive breakdown Friday as Sevastopol girls soccer fell 6-2 to Shawano Community in a non-conference road matchup in Bonduel.
Despite a resilient start that saw the Pioneers enter halftime deadlocked in a 2-2 tie, the Hawks dominated the final 40 minutes of play. Shawano Community exploded for four unanswered goals in the second half to snap a four-match home winless streak.
Sevastopol showed flashes of offensive efficiency early, matching the Hawks strike-for-strike. However, the Pioneers struggled to maintain possession and contain Shawano’s transition game after the break. The loss marks the third consecutive defeat for a Sevastopol squad that has struggled to find consistency since an early-season victory.
The Pioneers' defense, which held firm through the first period, was ultimately overwhelmed by a Shawano attack desperate to get back into the win column.
Sevastopol Drops to 1-3 overall. The Pioneers have been outscored 13-3 during their current three-game slide.
Sevastopol will look to snap its losing streak and find its footing at home on Monday. The Pioneers are scheduled to host Kewaunee, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m.
