Sevastopol faces tough Bears competition

Sevastopol Pioneers softball dropped both ends of a doubleheader against the Bonduel Bears, falling 10-1 and 21-4.

Game one was a tough outing despite a solid effort from Leah Schopf, who went six and two-thirds innings and collected one of the team's four hits. Bonduel's Emery Thompson was dominant in the circle, striking out 17 over seven innings.

Game two got away from Sevastopol in a hurry after Bonduel put up 15 runs in the second inning. Brynn Schartner was a bright spot though, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs to account for most of the Pioneers' offense. Schopf also picked up two hits in the loss.

Sevastopol travels to Algoma on Thursday.
