The Sevastopol baseball team is preparing to host a doubleheader against the Kewaunee Storm this Thursday.
The Storm is boasting an undefeated 6-0 record early into the season. Most recently picking up a pair of wins over Oconto. This season, pitcher Brett Paulsen has led the Storm. He's tossed in 16 innings, punching out 38 batters, earning three wins, including a perfect game in the Storms' 9-0 victory over Escanaba. Paulsen is also a force not to be reckoned with on the plate, having 12 hits, scoring nine runs, 11 RBI, on a .632 batting average, with seven steals.
The Pioneers' last outing was also a doubleheader, which saw them sweep Peshtigo. Andrew Wiesner carried game one, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs while also striking out nine over six innings on the mound. Sevastopol plated three in the first and added two more in the second to go up 5-0 early. Game two was more of the same. Sevastopol jumped out 4-0 through two innings and cruised to a 6-2 win. Haberli tossed two scoreless innings with five strikeouts to start it, then went 3-for-4 at the plate. In both games, the Pioneers committed zero errors.
